Chapter 1541: Meeting the Administrators Again (1)
Whoosh!
Feeling like they were zooming through the infinite folds of outer space for a very long time, both Valyr and Ataraxia eventually found themselves at the center of a large room containing a plethora of highly technological machines.
Taking note of how almost every nook and cranny aside from the machines were a pure and unblemished white, the two quickly understood that they were now back at the spot where everything involving their current situation began.
And not too long after that, the two that served as the cause behind their current situation appeared before them.
"Hoh...?" Being the first to enter the room, Adam paused for a bit as he looked at the two standing side by side with a hint of surprise. "How far have you gotten in having both identities move independently from one another?"
"In terms of complexity, I’d say simple combat," replied Valyr, understanding what the man meant as he and Ataraxia began to do different combat movements from one another.
"I see." Adam nodded, continuing to watch the two for a bit more before making another discovery. "Looks like you were also able to separate yourself into your two identities."
"I’ll have to thank the tournament we recently participated in for that," said Ataraxia, wryly smiling as the two briefly glanced at one another. "Because of circumstances there, we had to get used to looking at the same thing from different perspectives."
"In the end, although we’re still the one and the same, it also feels like we’re two different people at the same time."
"Thank the heavens you two had the foresight to do that, even if you didn’t intend to."
Responding to the young man’s words, Eve finally revealed herself to the two, entering the room as she waved at them with a faint smile on her face. "I honestly thought we’d have to spend a bit of effort in separating your identities again."
"Which was why we were slightly taken aback when we sensed the two of you were separated when we trying to summon you here," continued Adam where she left off.
"Wait..." Listening to the words that left their mouths, Valyr and Ataraxia looked at each other for a bit as frowns gradually appeared on their faces.
Then, allowing the gears in their mind to ponder over their words for a bit more, the two eventually realized what they meant by that, causing them to look at the two Administrators with both confusion and disbelief.
"So, you’re planning to separate us again after fusing us together?" asked Valyr as Ataraxia nodded in understanding.
"Pretty much." The two Administrators nodded, not bothering to hide their thoughts from them.
"But wasn’t the reason why we were fused together in the first place was because our existence broke the laws of time paradox or something?" asked the young man after that, to which Adam scratched his head for a bit as he tried to come up with a simple way to explain it all.
"Well... the fact that we fused the two of you together because of the laws of time paradox is true," said the man with a slight nod. "Since you’ve come from two different timelines, the universe deemed you two as an anomaly and wanted to remove you two from existence."
"Now, think about your current situation for a bit." Adam looked at the two with a calm expression. "And now think about the laws of time paradox."
"Since the two of you have been fused together for quite some time now, do you think the laws of time paradox would still deem you two as anomalies?"
"...Huh." With the gears in their minds still starting, it did not take long for Valyr and Ataraxia to understand what the man was hinting at.
"So, if we’re getting this correctly... fusing us together into one identity was done in order to "sync up" our timelines to the current one?"
"I’m glad you caught on." Adam smiled at those words, nodding in agreement. "That’s exactly why we fused the two of you together... aside from the reasons we’ve talked about before, of course."
"Why are you separating us, then?" asked Ataraxia after the first mystery was solved. "I mean... it’s not that I don’t want the two of us to be separated. I’d rather be at two places at once than be forced to prioritize one over the other."
"You just answered your own question." Eve chuckled out of amusement. "Even we understand that it’s more beneficial for the two of you to be at different places at the same time, especially with how much responsibilities both of your identities have."
Though both Valyr and Ataraxia were relieved and excited that the two of them could do their own things at their own pace again, the two also could not help but think about another possible issue brought about by the separation.
"If we get separated... would the connection we have be removed?" asked Ataraxia, to which Valyr nodded in agreement.
"Not at all." The two assured them, prompting both of them to let out wide sighs of relief in response. "We think it’s a waste if you two couldn’t tap into the bond you share even after separating."
"And that’s also partly why we brought the two of you here, actually," said Eve after that, manifesting a bit of energy around her as she asked both Valyr and Ataraxia to remain where they were.
"Before we separate the two of you, we’ll be modifying and improving the skills we’ve given you to better suit your needs," she told them, only for Adam to start manifesting energy around him as well.
"We’ll also be giving you a new skill to make sure that the connection between the two of you is not lost," the man said, prompting Eve to finally make her move as she sent a couple strands of energy to both Valyr and Ataraxia.
Whoosh!
Feeling as if a large river of information was raging in their minds all of a sudden, the two soon felt as if a part of their minds were being actively rewritten, which briefly caused them to fear a bit of what was to come.
However, as time passed, this overwritten information began to arrange itself on its own, allowing the two to gradually understand that the information Eve just overwritten in their minds...
Was one of the core skills they gave them.
Ding!
