Chapter 432: Chapter 411: Maple Viewing Interlude

Sienna Thornton was a natural clothes hanger; even comfortable sportswear looked like it was designed for her seductive curves.

Simon Forrester was also dressed all in black. Black sports trousers paired with a black T-shirt, along with the same series of Nike Air Max sneakers as Sienna had on. Any passerby would instantly recognize them as a couple.

Quentin Thorne watched the lovebirds, Candy and Annie, feeling quite sentimental. He turned to Melinda Linton, who was sitting beside him, and said, "Melinda, I never thought these two kids would end up together."

Melinda handed him a small rice ball with disposable gloves and smiled, "How so?"

Quentin took the sushi, ate a mouthful, chewed a few times, and just as he was about to speak, Melinda handed him some white fungus lotus seed tea. He took a sip and finally swallowed all the rice in his mouth.

"Rex is such a calm child, and Annie is also quiet. I’m not sure how these two got together," Quentin laughed and asked Melinda, "Did Annie ever tell you how she and Rex got together?"

Melinda thought for a moment and shook her head, "Annie never mentioned it. I initially thought they were introduced by friends or colleagues."

"I asked them once before, and they gave vague answers, saying they met because of serving lawyer letters and lawsuits."

Melinda laughed, "Annie probably talks to you more because she thinks you understand. She might think I wouldn’t get it, so she hasn’t mentioned much to me."

This statement suddenly created an awkward atmosphere.

"Melinda..."

After a moment, Quentin softly called her and looked at her with affection, "Do you want to learn something? There are many senior universities now. You could learn some knowledge to avoid a generation gap with the grandchildren in the future."

Melinda responded gently, "Sure."

Not far away, Sienna Thornton was stretching by the guardrail, while Simon Forrester jogged in place beside her. Occasionally, they would share jokes or playfully hold each other’s waists.

Melinda watched them with contentment and reminded them at the right time, "Annie, come over and eat something when you’re about ready."

Sienna responded, "Okay," but didn’t come over immediately, still playing around with Simon.

Her long, smooth, straight hair was tied high, sweeping into a beautiful arc with her movements.

She gave Simon a push and ran away. Simon chased after her, lifted her up, and spun her around. She laughed and squealed with joy, her clear, pleasant voice floating to Melinda and Quentin with the mountain breeze.

Quentin watched his excellent, beautiful, and sensible daughter, filled with love and frequent glances of gratitude towards Melinda, saying gently, "Melinda, thank you for raising Annie so well, I..."

He was interrupted by a call from not far away saying, "Sutton!"

Quentin looked at the newcomer, immediately stood up, and stepped forward to shake his hand, "Sutton, you’re here at Fenmore Hill today too?"

The middle-aged man, referred to as Sutton and about Quentin’s age, embraced the elegant lady beside him and smiled, "Just enjoying the brisk autumn weather, bringing the missus up the hill for some exercise!"

As he spoke, his gaze drifted towards Melinda.

Melinda had already stood up by now, but remained at some distance from Quentin.

She nodded and smiled at Sutton and Mrs. Sutton.

Even Candy, who was just playing around a moment ago, looked over.

Seeing this, Quentin waved Sienna over with a smile, and she jogged over.

Quentin held her and introduced her to the Suttons, "This is my eldest daughter, Sienna Thorne, she works in the Treaty and Law Department of the Ministry of Commerce!"

His tone remained consistently proud.

After introducing Sienna, he smoothly introduced Simon Forrester, "And this is my future son-in-law!"

Then he introduced Sutton, "This is the current Procurator-General, Uncle Sutton."

Candy quickly greeted Sutton, "Hello, Uncle Sutton, hello, Auntie."

Sienna, being beautiful with a pleasant voice and looking sweet and charming at the moment, made the Suttons gaze at her with envy.

Sutton said, "Quentin, I never knew you had such an enchanting elder daughter!"

Quentin replied, "Annie was studying in Azure Harbor and the United States for a long time; she hasn’t been back for many years."

"Well done, the child is promising!" Sutton nodded with a smile, looking at both Sienna and Simon, his gaze lingered a few moments on Simon’s face, asking, "Where does your future son-in-law work?"

Quentin had a brief moment of unease, "He works at the ’Forrester Group.’"

He wasn’t sure if Simon wanted people to know he was the chairman of Forrester Group, so he didn’t elaborate.

Hearing this, Sutton withdrew his gaze from Simon, "That’s good, working at Forrester Group is great too. The Forrester’s development has been stable these years, and looking at the trends, the company has a bright future."

These words seemed somewhat consolatory.

Sutton felt a bit regretful in his heart that Quentin’s overseas-educated, civil service-working elder daughter ended up with a son-in-law working at a private enterprise.

After exchanging a few more courteous words with Quentin, Sutton was about to leave when he suddenly looked towards Melinda, standing not far away, his curiosity apparent but without asking much, he bid farewell and left.

After walking a bit, he whispered to his wife, "Strange, when did Quentin end up with another eldest daughter?"

"Didn’t he say she was studying in Azure Harbor and the United States? Could it be she was secretly born some years ago and sent to Azure Harbor to be raised?"

"As an only child, Quentin could have a second child, there’s no need to send her away..."

Mrs. Sutton suddenly remembered something, "Hey, did you notice the woman sitting with Quentin just now? That didn’t seem like Mrs. Thorne..."

Sutton replied, "...Might be the biological mother of the eldest daughter, she looked somewhat similar."

.

After the Suttons left, Sienna’s expression was a bit off. She didn’t say anything, just pulled Simon to go have some snacks.

Melinda followed to pour tea and get snacks for them.

Quentin vaguely guessed why she was unhappy and felt a bit guilty. He wanted to find an opportunity to explain to Sienna, but noticed that although Sienna was unhappy, her attitude towards him remained unchanged. She didn’t alter her behavior because he hadn’t introduced Melinda to the Suttons earlier.

Quentin felt slightly relieved.

After having lunch on the mountain, Simon drove a battery car, taking Sienna and her parents to tour The Fenmore Villa.

Along the mountain, the villas, with the first and second mansions near the summit being the most prestigious, and Simon Forrester’s third mansion, situated not quite at the top, was on relatively flat terrain just below.

The battery car wound along the four-lane mountain road, heading straight towards the summit, and before reaching it, the asphalt road branched off, leading to the third mansion.

Sitting in the front passenger seat, Quentin looked at the road and asked, "The road is good. How did you come to think of buying a plot on such high ground back then?"
