Rebirth, Seduce My Ex-husband-Chapter 67: He Had A Brother
"What the hell do you think you are trying to do?"
Rowen asked, pushing Stacy away before she could hit Vanessa.
Tearing up, Stacy cried, "Rowen, she tried to kill our baby and you just stand there? I know you don’t love me, but our baby? You should at least care about the baby."
She said, rubbing her stomach as Catherine came to her rescue. "Rowen, don’t let the love you have for this woman blind you from the truth... the maids said it themselves, Vanessa is the one responsible for all this."
Rowen snapped, "Enough, no, Mother! Vanessa is innocent. If she said she didn’t do it, then I believe her."
Standing up, Vanessa’s eyes were swollen, yet no single tear was present. "I spent all day trying to make this dinner perfect... despite the fact that I still have so much going on in my life, I still brought out the strength to do all this, and you still dare to point accusations at me?"
Vanessa shouted, her voice loud and firm as she then turned her gaze onto the maids that were kneeling on the ground.
"You dare to lie and accuse me? You are both fired."
Vanessa muttered as she then turned around and went straight to her room, with Kami following behind her.
"It’s late, you all should stay over for tonight," Rowen announced as he ordered Vivian to show everyone to their rooms.
Meanwhile, he turned to Stacy, "Stacy will stay at the mansion until the guest house is fixed. Now, please, there has been enough drama for one day."
Saying that, he turned around and left as George followed behind him.
The night was still young, and while Vanessa was at the balcony just staring into nothing, someone unexpected approached her.
She had a glass of wine in her hand as she handed it over to Vanessa. "You seem rather calm after being accused an hour ago."
Patricia said, as Vanessa looked at her and just faced forward again.
"I should have known better than to trust them. In this life, people will betray you... it’s a fact."
Patricia nodded as they both just stayed silent, staring at the full moon in the dark night.
Just then, a question popped into Vanessa’s mind.
"Patricia, do you believe in rebirth?"
"Rebirth?" Patricia blinked slightly.
"Yes, like dying but coming back to life, to the past."
"Well, I’ve heard a lot about things like that. I even have a friend that talks about that. She is obsessed, and she believes that we humans can actually go through rebirth and some of us remember the past life while some of us don’t."
"Really?"
"Yes, in fact, she told me that déjà vu is a sort of rebirth glitch. That we have died, but we woke up and don’t remember how we died, and we repeat the same life over again. And déjà vu is like remembering the same thing you did in your past."
Patricia explained as Vanessa took hold of her hands.
"Would you please let me meet your friend? There are some things I would love to discuss with her."
Vanessa suggested, her eyes filled with impatience as Patricia nodded.
"Sure, no problem. I’ll tell her you want to meet with her. I’ll fix a day for you both."
"Thank you," Vanessa said just as Rowen walked in.
His face gloomy, he said, "Aunt Patricia, I would like to steal my wife away for a minute."
Smiling, Patricia nodded, handing Vanessa over to him. "She’s yours, lover boy."
And with that, she walked away toward where Catherine was.
Meanwhile, helping Stacy check on her wounds, Catherine made sure Stacy was well taken care of.
"Aunt, I know I shouldn’t be here, I know I shouldn’t be pregnant with Rowen’s child, but it wasn’t my fault. It’s all fate. Vanessa shouldn’t use her jealousy as a reason to hurt me or my child."
She kept on nagging as Catherine patted her. "I understand, child. Don’t worry, I’ll talk to her... she will apologize to you."
"No, Aunt, she will not listen to you. And anyway, I don’t want you both to fight. I don’t want to cause any problems between you two."
Stacy feigned innocence as Catherine shook her head. "No, no, no, no, no... Vanessa has to learn how not to be so wicked. I will have to talk to her and reprimand her. Who is she to talk back to her mother-in-law? Just you see, she will apologize to you whether she likes it or not."
Catherine said as she stood up. "Just give me a moment."
Saying that, she made her way out of the room as Stacy’s expression changed immediately. "Finally got that old hag out of my sight. Such an annoying old woman."
She said, turning around to sleep more comfortably.
Meanwhile, with a frowning face, Catherine was ready to approach Vanessa for a fight when Patricia stopped her midway.
"And where the hell do you think you are going, Cathy?" she asked, confused.
"I’ll tell you later. Now I have to go teach that daughter-in-law of mine a lesson."
She said, but Patricia held her down, not letting her go.
"I’ve even been meaning to talk to you, Catherine. What’s the meaning of all this?"
"What are you talking about?" Catherine asked, staring directly at her sister.
"You are Rowen’s mother and Vanessa’s mother-in-law, but you don’t act like one. You see that mistress try to say such things to Vanessa, and you don’t even protect your daughter-in-law. What type of mother-in-law are you?"
Patricia asked, and Catherine frowned.
"Protect what daughter-in-law? A daughter-in-law who doesn’t treat her husband well and is rude to me? No way. Vanessa deserves everything she’s getting."
Sighing, Patricia defended, "I know Vanessa wasn’t a good person before, but Mariam told and explained to me everything that has happened these past few months. Vanessa has changed, and now she seems to be a better person. Why don’t you just let bygones be bygones and stop this feud you have with her?"
"I don’t have any feud with anybody. All I just want is for Vanessa not to do anything to Stacy. Stacy is pregnant with my son. She is pregnant with my grandchild. She shouldn’t let her jealousy take the better of her."
"Oh, please, you talk as though you weren’t in the same situation as Vanessa years ago. Or have you forgotten when Ryan cheated on you when Rowen was just two years old?"
Patricia said, snapping back at Catherine. "Vanessa is even way better than you. Back then, you mistreated that woman and treated her and her child so badly she literally left this house and never returned. Vanessa still takes good care of Stacy. She gives her good food and everything she needs. You hardly even gave that woman a comfortable place to sleep, and here you are complaining."
"Don’t pull out that card on me. That woman seduced my husband. She wanted to take him away and steal the position of my son. Vanessa doesn’t even have a son yet, only a daughter. Who is Rowen going to give his entire legacy to when he becomes old?" 𝘧𝓇ℯℯ𝑤ℯ𝘣𝓃ℴ𝓋𝑒𝑙.𝑐𝘰𝑚
"Oh, what rubbish! Vanessa is still young, she can get pregnant any time... How are you even sure that Stacy is pregnant with a son? She may be pregnant with a daughter, or even worse, her baby may be disabled. Then what will you do? Huh? Will you toss her away and dote on Vanessa? You are driving me crazy!"
Patricia then pointed. "Now listen, you should not treat Vanessa anyhow, or else I’ll cut all ties that I have with you. Do you hear me? Leave Vanessa alone and don’t cause problems for your son. That’s the least you can do as a mother."
"And also, when are you going to let Rowen know he has a 30-year-old younger brother outside? Tell him that it’s the reason you want him to have a son so badly so our legacy doesn’t shift."
Saying that, Patricia turned around and left, leaving Catherine standing all alone in the corridor, completely speechless.
Meanwhile,
Standing at the balcony was Vanessa as she turned her back to Rowen, not wanting to meet his gaze.
"I know you are innocent,"
Rowen said, his words sinking in. "But I’m sure your mother doesn’t believe me... everyone probably thinks you did that to Stacy out of jealousy."
Rowen took hold of Vanessa. "Don’t say that. If anyone ever says that, I’ll strangle them because I know you can never do that."
"The old me could have done that... didn’t that thought pass through your mind?" Vanessa asked.
"No! I don’t care about the Vanessa of before... all I care about is the Vanessa of now the Vanessa who is a good person, a good wife, and a good mother. Nothing else."
Vanessa sobbed slightly as Rowen cleaned away her tears. "If you shed a single tears, I’ll make the person responsible tear husbands."
And he did.
