Rebirth, Seduce My Ex-husband-Chapter 69: Why Rebirth? 2
The next morning, as soon as Vanessa woke up, she took a quick shower and got ready to leave.
She walked into Patricia’s room, and upon seeing Patricia, she smiled slightly. With that, Patricia handed over a note to her.
"She said she would meet you over coffee. She can be weird, but she’s alright."
Nodding, Vanessa thanked Patricia and made her way out.
She decided to drop Tara at school on the way and branched off to a nearby café where she and Patricia’s friend were supposed to meet.
After sitting for almost an hour, a slim-looking woman walked into the café.
She was dressed in weird, baggy clothes, but Vanessa could tell she had a very nice shape.
She was young, looked like she was in her late twenties.
Waving to get her attention, the white-haired lady walked toward Vanessa and took the seat opposite her.
"You must be Lara. Nice to meet you. I’m Vanessa" Vanessa extended her hand for a greeting, but Lara didn’t shake it.
"I don’t do hand greetings. You must be Patricia’s nephew’s wife, huh? Well, let’s make this quick. I don’t have all day."
Lara said, calling a waiter to order a drink.
Taking a deep breath, Vanessa finally said, "I have a question to ask. I hope you don’t find it weird, but do you believe in rebirth?"
"Rebirth?" Lara shifted her gaze from the drink back to Vanessa, an eyebrow raised.
Vanessa nodded. "Yes, rebirth. You see, there’s this friend of mine, Sam. She had a horrible past life, and when she died, she found herself back in the past. But there’s something weird. There’s this other person, Chloe, and she seems to just hate Sam as though they’ve met in this new life. But they never met, never had any relationship whatsoever. So why does Chloe act like she knows Sam?"
Vanessa said, giving herself and Stacy different names to avoid exposing herself.
"Well, I guess in this case, both Chloe and Sam went through rebirth."
"How?" Vanessa asked, confused.
"You see, rebirth isn’t like going to the past. It’s like going into another dimension. That same life you left still remains the same because the world can’t just restart because of you. You go into another dimension at a different point in time. Sam seems to remember her past life, which is a good thing for her. But when it comes to Chloe, it’s possible she ended up in the same dimension as Sam if they both died on the same day."
"In fact, Sam and Chloe may not even be the only ones who went through rebirth. Many people do, but only a few remember their past lives or how they died. Some just forget and live the same life over and over again like a time loop. It never ends."
"I hope that answered your question?" she asked as Vanessa nodded slightly, still processing everything Lara had said.
"My sincere advice to that friend of yours is to be careful with whatever she does. She shouldn’t tamper with time. There are certain things that are meant to happen in this world, and if they’re interrupted, someone else could pay the consequences."
She said, her words now scaring Vanessa. "What do you mean?"
"Hmm, take that man for example," Lara said, pointing at an old man that had just walked into the café.
"Let’s say he died by being hit by a car and his daughter happens to go back in time and successfully saves his life. You would think everything is normal and it’s a happy ending, right? Wrong. Boom. Someone else gets hit by a car instead of the man, maybe an innocent person that wasn’t meant to die at all."
"The lesson of all this is that time shouldn’t be messed with. The universe wants what it wants. If you don’t give it to her, she will take it somewhere else and she won’t be funny at all."
Saying that, Lara then stood up abruptly and said, "Well, my time is up. I have things to do. See you when I see you, Vanessa, which should be never because I don’t want to see you."
With that, she smiled and turned around to leave, leaving Vanessa seated with confusion all over her face.
"What the hell?"
---
Later that night, Vanessa was at the balcony once more, staring into nothing, her mind still filled with the words of Lara.
"Did Stacy really come back to the past just like her? But how? Wasn’t she alive?"
She asked herself as she suddenly sensed a presence. An eerie one.
But before she could react, she was launched at by a figure. A familiar one. To her surprise, it was Stacy.
Holding Vanessa by the neck, with one move Stacy could have sent her flying.
"You bitch. It’s better to just get rid of you at this fucking moment."
She sneered, anger visible in her eyes as Vanessa held the balcony railing for her dear life.
Using all her strength, she was able to push Stacy away. Stacy collapsed slightly to the ground, coughing while still holding her neck.
"Are you freaking crazy? How dare you try to push me?"
Vanessa shouted as Stacy just laughed crazily.
"You still don’t get it, do you, Vanessa?"
Vanessa staggered back, one hand still gripping the balcony railing as the other nursed her bruised neck.
"What are you even talking about, Stacy? Why the hell are you doing all this? What have I ever done to you? Why are you trying to ruin my marriage? What is your deal?"
Vanessa shouted. She had heard enough. She wanted to hear the reason, the truth straight from her.
"You want to know? Well, don’t act like you don’t know why I’m doing all this. You and I both know that your title as Mrs. Quinn, Rowen, everything in this house, it all rightfully belongs to me. And you, Vanessa, you are nothing but a psycho bitch."
