Reincarnated As A Lion In Another World-Chapter 315: Upload
Far away from the Super Mega Herd.
Golden light shone brightly from the figure of a large lion. The golden light almost blinded everyone who was closest to him.
Priya squinted her eyes to block the light rays from blinding her. Other creatures could only close their eyes or look away. 𝒇𝒓𝙚𝒆𝔀𝓮𝓫𝒏𝓸𝙫𝓮𝓵.𝓬𝙤𝙢
Kael, the source of the golden light, had a calm expression on his face. He pushed the matter of Marcus to the back of his mind and focused on the matter at hand.
Conquering Essence was constantly flowing out of the river in the form of golden strings and converging in his body. The convergence of so much Conquering Essence at once was what caused him to currently be glowing so brightly.
Since Conquering Essence could be gotten from conquering activities, it meant that he had a broad source of power.
Simply taking over the river and subjugating the crocodiles within had earned him so much Conquering Essence that his two Conquering Essence pools were quickly filled and had nowhere to go, hence his glowing body.
Kael thought of letting the excess Conquering Essence go into the Lion System to power the system features but he paused.
He had to think of the benefits first. Currently, the Lion system was experiencing some Conquering Essence lack due to so many Lion Kings joining at the same time.
Exalon and another Lion King had practically almost drained the whole system before Kael stepped in to stop it.
He already knew the source of his power, Conquering Essence, and he knew where to get it. So far, the largest amount of Conquering Essence has always come from his actions.
Although the other lions in Eridoria were doing their best, they were not as strong as Kael and couldn’t operate at the same scale as he did.
The lions in heaven however seemed to just be lazy which confused Kael. He thought that they would be doing missions back to back since he had given them something to do related to their nature.
But it couldn’t be helped, most of the rewards for the missions, both his and other pride leaders, had Conquering points as a reward.
And the points could either be exchanged between other lions or used to purchase things from the exchange feature board. There wasn’t a lot of drive to complete those missions.
Not to mention, due to different environments, the lions of Eridoria couldn’t accept missions from lions in heaven which were very appealing.
Besides the missions, the lions in heaven didn’t seem to be doing much. Or from Kael’s perspective, it looked like they were busy with other things.
Kael needed a way to push the already narcissistic, egoistical, and prideful lions to accept more missions.
Just now, his conversation with Marcus as well as Marcus’s change after receiving the Conquering Essence, had given Kael an idea.
He had been working on the Lionhood Bar for some time now but had not yet uploaded it because he felt it still had some issues.
Now, Marcus had given him some ideas. Lionhood was in basic terms, the ability to conquer.
He would use that.
Kael immediately went to work on the new feature. The golden light shining from his large body began to die down as the excess Conquering Essence was being consumed to add the finishing touches to the new feature.
Soon, the surrounding creatures were able to open their eyes fully to see Kael, standing there with a golden screen in front of his face.
A mischievous smile was on his face, exposing his terrifying metallic gold fangs.
The golden screen in front of him showed a vertical bar with some figures and characters around it. Currently, this bar was halfway filled, showing the figures to indicate that it was at fifty percent.
After checking everything and not seeing any errors, Kael immediately uploaded it into the Lion System.
Instantly, all the lions and lionesses who had their identity marks on the lion system received notifications of a new feature.
Priya and Katari who were close by had their golden screens brought up in front of their faces. They saw the new vertical bar at the very edge of the screen and could tell what it was for.
’Lionhood?’ Katari asked herself as she felt some kind of urge within her all of a sudden. An urge to do something tyrannical.
Priya looked at her own bar that showed fifty percent and wondered why she had a feeling that increasing the percentage would make her feel extremely good about herself.
"Priya, is it done?" Kael asked, breaking Priya and Katari out of their thoughts and bringing their focus back to the matter at hand. Priya decided to look into the new feature later.
"Yeah, it’s done. They’ve all been added to the Vassal Record and a temporary caste leader has been selected. Some birds will be left behind to watch over them and act as enforcers for the time being." Priya said, referring to the crocodiles.
The bodies of the dead crocodiles were not as much as the load of squids and octopus he had provided before but they were still enough. The average crocodile here had already awakened their heart even though they were not equivalent to a tier 3 lion
Because of this, Priya and Kael allowed those creatures from their horde who had yet to awaken their hearts to feed on the bodies of the dead crocodiles. This increased the number of super-powered creatures on their side.
Because of the one-month period that usually spanned when evolving to a tier 3 lion equivalent, Priya did not allow any creature who had already awakened their hearts to feed on these powerful crocodile bodies.
Now wasn’t the time. All the crocodiles were eaten by only those creatures who were yet to awaken their powers.
As of now, the number of superpowered creatures in the horde has increased considerably.
Kael nodded, "Well, then, let’s go. There are some hyenas up ahead, I want them." He said to not just Priya, but the other leaders on this campaign as well.
Once again, the horde began to move. They were like a tide of claws, fangs, and horns. The snakes had all gone in different directions, planning to support this operation from the shadows.
Meanwhile, Condra and the other avians watched over everything from above.
Space twisted around Katari as she disappeared from view. Kael retracted his aura and Priya maintained the pseudo-hive mind.
The horde continued moving for half of the night until they started to make out the many silhouettes of distant creatures huddled up together.
Kael walked at the front, he was able to see the scale of this herd and had to admit that it was indeed incredible. This was the second time that he was seeing this and it was still very fascinating.
So many herbivores, stretching to the edges of his vision, he couldn’t even see the end of the herd.
The grass here was taller than in other places. However, with the arrival of the horde, most of the tall grass behind them had been trampled and as they spread out, the place was starting to look flatter than before.
"Spread out! Find the hyenas, I know they are here," Kael commanded as he walked forward majestically.
He raised his head slightly and sniffed the air. The hyenas were close, he could smell them.
The wolves, foxes, and goats immediately spread out to find the hyenas. The Super Mega Herd was not of their concern for now. What they were focused on was the hyenas.
There was a myth that the royal lions hated the hyenas beyond words. It was said that they always fought at any chance they got. Some wondered if Kael shared this hate for hyenas like other lions.
Ruda, Eidel, Diane, and Zabita went as a group, just like old times. Diane led the hunting squad from the front while Eidel and Ruda stayed by the side. Zabita was at the rear.
They followed the scents they could find and were skillfully tracking them.
Just then, the cry of an eagle sounded out from the sky, alerting the horde members and awakening some of the nearby herd members.
Diane looked up to see that the eagle which had cried out just now was not too far from them.
Then, a wolf’s howl came from that same direction, stunning those who heard it. Then another howl sounded out.
And then, animalistic laughter echoed out until the night, mixed with the sounds of barking and growling.
Diane burst out with speed, and the soil beneath her exploded as she rushed toward that direction.
Ruda, covered in purple electricity, swiftly overtook her and rushed forward, arriving at the scene before the rest.
There, she saw a gruesome sight. Five hyenas were currently fighting a single wolf.
Calling it a fight would be an understatement, it was a bloody beatdown. The wolf was missing an eye and a large chunk of flesh and fur had been ripped out from his hip side. His tail was hanging loosely from a thin strand of flesh and his limbs quivered.
He barked tirelessly at the hyenas that surrounded him from all sides, snapping at her injured body and gradually taking small pieces of his flesh with every bite.
