Reincarnated into a Snow Griffin-Chapter 118
Abyss, the emptiness, the void, how one could define such abstract idea into a magic, a world, a city? 𝐟𝚛𝕖𝚎𝕨𝗲𝐛𝚗𝐨𝐯𝐞𝕝.𝐜𝗼𝗺
I did not know, but I had a very palpable idea that would make me shiver every time my memory played back the deadly grip the mist had over me, its strange pull, the more such strange description seemed to fit.
It was the lack of... something, everything, and such named magic could only entice my imagination as to what it is capable of, a more lethal degree of Void Magic, an already deadly concept raised up a notch.
But I guess I would not need to guess for long since we are about to walk in into this mess.
"So you are an Abyss elemental user?" I ask, not sure if I should define it as an element or as magic at all. I do not wait for the black fox to answer as I flap my wings, getting closer to the place where we might find our doom. "How have I not seen you use it so far? I mean, you did not even try to defend yourself back then." I ask, truly curious how such a small creature perched on my back could have the same essence as that famish fog.
Although he had the same... strangeness to it, almost as if something was wrong, broken even... unnatural, a void deep in his eyes, so akin to such young looking face.
"We are getting closer now, best to walk to not attract attention..." Says Kasumi, avoiding my question, but as I look over my shoulder I find him with a serious face that does not match his young features, eyes glued at the horizon, so instead of confronting him I do as said and start slowly descending, the frosty overbearing pull already chilling me to the bone even at this distance, the mere memory enough to make me sweat.
And we are going to go right into the lion’s den, just great.
No, no... I think as my paws reach the floor as my wings flap strongly behind me to keep us stable, is worse than a lion’s den, because at least we would have known that there were lions inside.
And this fog, this city, this place... we don’t know what to expect from it, if not only the worst.
I change back to my human form as the two clean their vests from the dusty wind, the mist already visible in the distance to my owl eyes.
I frown at that as Ethan comes to stand by my side, looking towards where I’m glancing but not seeing what I am.
"You frown like that and you will look like a grandpa in no time." He jokes, playing with a long strand of my white hair between his fingers, but it is not enough to lift the worry in my heart, so he sighs and gets a little closer.
"Don’t worry about it, I’ll protect you my King." My frown deepens with the commentary, but my coldness stops any other emotion from slipping as I say:
"I’m not weak, I don’t need protection." I say, meaning it and even slightly offended by his accusation, but I should have excepted that this sly devil would turn the tables and says as he slightly kisses my hair and looks up at me, a smirk on his face:
"But I don’t want to protect you because you are weak, but because you are very important to me... so much so that I would risk my life for you in the blink of an eye."
That takes my mouth to head filter blank away for a second as I say, a little snappier than I intended:
"Don’t throw your life away that easily." He does not flinch at my unintentionally cold answer, and actually looks deep into my eyes before saying:
"I’m not." We lock gazes for a while, and even though no words are said the exchange is full of meaning and feeling.
But anything that feeling could evolve into at that moment is stopped by the crunching sound of someone eating beside us, followed by a pair of black curious eyes in a munching young face that did not know its place.
"Uhm? Wha- Don’t worry about me, I never skip free porn, is quite fun to watch you know, you can keep going, the city can way, uhum. Munch munch." I can feel a vein pop on my forehead, how could this child be so unseeing like this? I guess going back and forth from puberty by having his tails snacked away does that to someone.
Or he is just that fucked up on the head that’s all.
I clear my throat before saying: "Alright, how are we going to do this?" I smack Ethan before he can make a joke out of my commentary, which I knew was coming by the cheeky smile on his face, and ask the fox for the next steps who, with a satisfied toothy smile, jumps up at me, but instead of the kid’s body hitting me what paddles over my shoulder is a small, completely black fox, nose twitching and round big eyes looking, the horn necklace shinning against is smooth fur.
"We will have to keep physical contact at all times so the best way is for me to glue on you, the problem is that there are two of you now..." He starts, a black single tail twisting behind him and paws crossed, his fake worry visible by the smile trying to turn the corner of his snout up. "I have an idea but you may not like it... or hell, you might as well love it by the look of things."
I know his sexual connotation on things is only to provoke me, especially when Ethan seems to enjoy the mere thought of it, and knowing that its purpose is to destabilize me instead of having the desired effect is actually a bucket of cold water on me that makes me straighten my back even more.
"Lead the way." I say without flinching, which takes the smile off his face since he expected a reaction instead of simple acceptance, but that does not work on Ethan, it never does, and he still looks expectedly from the fox to me.
I just hope this all end up well, and soon, much sooner.
