Rise of the Harem King-Chapter 229: What does the enemy want?
Davi used <Shild> to defend Alexia.
"Not today!" Davi's voice roared, standing between Alexia and the enemy
Agramon snarled, his grin fading for the first time. Davi stepped forward, ready to fight, but as suddenly as she had appeared, the demon vanished into the shadows, taking Luna with him.
The battlefield fell silent, leaving only the sound of Alexia's ragged breaths…
"Damn it!" Davi roared in frustration as he watched his enemy vanish, taking his beloved with him.
He clenched his fists so tightly his knuckles turned white, his eyes blazing with hatred. He had arrived too late, and because of that, he had lost her to that cursed demon.
Moments later, Amelia appeared, finally being able to teleport in. For an instant, hope flickered within Davi's chest.
Maybe the woman could help him pursue that wretched creature. But…
"I don't know where she ended up," Amelia admitted, her voice heavy with frustration.
No matter how far she spread the reach of her ability, <Vision of All Things>, she couldn't locate Luna's presence anywhere.
The second option was to trace the remnants of the spatial magic Agramon had used. Yet, as soon as she attempted it, her vision blurred. He had moved to a place truly distant.
If she forced her mana to the absolute limit, she could chase him down, but at the cost of leaving herself too drained to fight for a long time. And how many could she even bring with her? Perhaps Davi… and one more person, at most.
It was far too risky. But knowing Davi, he would be willing to take that risk. So, Amelia chose to withhold part of the truth, for now.
Besides, neither of them had much time to reflect on what had just happened. The first wave of monsters was already at their gates, and Davi had to throw himself into the chaos alongside the others, to help everyone with the defense.
When the dust finally settled, they were battered, drained, but surprisingly, most of them were still unharmed.
Even so, Davi did not look pleased.
His heart pounded with fear for what might have happened to Luna. His only comfort was opening the system and seeing her name still glowing faintly in the list of harem members.
That meant she was alive. He could feel it, He could feel her small power coursing through his body.
But for how long?
How long would they keep her alive? And why… why did they take her in the first place?
Seeking answers, Davi finally sank onto his bed once the last fires of battle were put out. He closed his eyes, reaching inward, and let his consciousness slip into Inanna's domain.
Amelia and Alexia stayed close, guarding his motionless body, making sure that nothing bad would happen while he was talking to Inanna.
As Davi's consciousness drifted, he found himself in a familiar, ethereal space, a realm woven from starlight and whispers.
"So are you missing me already?" Inana appeared behind the man, hugging him closely and pressing her huge tits against his back.
However, soon after, she appeared in front of him. Davi blinked in surprise, noticing she was not wearing an overly sexy clothes, but actual armor.
"I need to be ready for a least case scenario," Inana commented, referring to her wear. "My sister is also naturally going to try to invade this place. But you don't need to worry much about it."
Different than usual, the woman had a much more serious tone, her golden eyes reflecting a rare solemnity.
Then, her usual mischievous smile was replaced by a gentle, almost sorrowful curve of her lips.
"Now, I believe we must go straight to the main topic, I already know why you came here," she said, locking around seemingly quite insecurely.
Seeing her like the made Daiv felt unease.
"Davi…" her voice was softer than usual, careful, almost fragile. "I must apologize to you."
"Apologize, why?" He asked, almost screaming, his heart pounding. "Does it have something to do with Luna? Do you know why she was kidnapped?"
Inanna's gaze softened further, a flicker of pain crossing her features.
"Yes, I do know. First off, I'm sure that Luna is… for now, as safe as she can be in my sister's grasp."
"How can you be so sure?"
"Please, calm down and let me explain everything," Inanna responded softly. "As you already know, Luna is the queen of your harem, she has this class after all. And, because of that, the bond between both has become the strongest thing on Earth."
Davi was quite confused, but even abstract things like relationships could be created. As their relationship was formed with a goddess's power at the center of that, the connection became an extremely powerful concept.
"I should have predicted it..." Inana said with a frustrated whisper. "That little brat always seeks to destroy my strongest creations. She finds the biggest joy in tearing down what is most resilient, most beautiful, most unbreakable."
"Wait, then she will kill Luna! I need to go save her!" Davi screamed.
"No, it's exactly because she wants to destroy the bond that she will not kill Luna. At least, not for now."
"Nihila understands that killing Luna outright would not destroy your bond. Death is only an interruption, it would leave behind memories, grief, longing… True destruction, to erase something."
As absurd as it is, with enough time, Nihila would be able to use her powers to destroy their relationship, making the bond cease to exist.
"Until she is not able to do that, she will not kill Luna. But if you don't act fast, the feeling you have for each other will disappear." Inana said with a sorrowful expression.
She clenched her fists in frustration, just thinking about that made her feel terrible.
Her golden eyes met his, filled with a mixture of regret and a fierce, unyielding resolve. "I will do everything in my power to guide you, Davi. We will bring Luna back. And defeat my sister once for all."
Davi took a long breath after hearing all of that.
"And how long do we have?"
"I'm not sure, probably five days at most."
"And do you know where Luna is right now?" he asked, his heart racing.
"About that, I think you should return to the human world. Amelia is the best at forcing her way into places without being invited."
After she said this, the connection was broken, and Davi was back at his room.
