Chapter 80: Ganging Up on Donk

The crowd turned their eyes and clearly saw the person in question, illuminated by torchlight.

"Come on, boss! Show them your strength!" James excitedly shouted.

Drai glanced at Christo only to see that he looked a bit lost.

Sensing Drai’s glance, Christo said, "Don’t ask me. Just do what you want."

Drai then turned to Jian and saw that he was nodding eagerly, holding two thumbs up while grinning widely.

Drai turned back to the crowd, who were looking at him with varying expressions. Some looked doubtful while others were expectant. Drai also noticed a few people who looked at him strangely, as if afraid or contemptuous.

"Come on, Drai! We need your strength to defeat them!" Klaus urged.

Drai finally made up his mind. He suddenly dashed toward a nearby tree. When he was nearing the tree, he quietly enlarged himself until he was twice his height.

Less than a second later, Drai adjusted his posture, lowering his head while raising his right arm, sending an overhand punch to the tree trunk.

A deafening boom shocked the observers. Their jaws dropped upon witnessing the fate of the tree.

A huge part of the trunk was shattered to bits, leaving the upper part falling toward Drai.

Drai deftly caught the trunk with both hands and turned to the direction of Donk. He then aimed the far end of the tree ahead and raised it slightly before throwing it like a javelin.

The crowd closely watched as the broken tree flew away. Yet, instead of flying straight at Donk, it veered slightly to the side and smashed into the building behind him, creating another hole in the wall.

Drai reverted and walked back to the crowd. He had been practicing his Colossal skill, so he was now quite efficient with it, avoiding wasted duration or cooldown..

Most of the students gulped nervously after watching Drai’s exhibition—only those from Drai’s class didn’t look too bothered despite seeing Drai’s transformation for the first time as they had gotten numb from Drai’s antics during their outdoor classes.

Klaus shook his head in amazement, while James laughed merrily and faced the crowd once more.

"See? That’s boss Drai’s power! Now what are you waiting for? Let’s beat those guys together!"

A series of murmurs ensued but only briefly. Soon, people began walking to James and Klaus. The two looked at each other and quickly briefed the group and led them into a formation.

Meanwhile, Donk heard the commotion but didn’t see Drai’s actions due to the distance and darkness. He only saw that something large had flown past him at high speed.

Donk turned his head to look at the freshly made hole. He scratched his head in confusion.

"Why big bird smash wall? Big bird hate life? Life good, why hate life?" Donk questioned.

Donk shook his head, deciding not to dwell on the "suicidal bird". He glanced at Venus who was following Peanut’s tracks at the distance, gathering all the unconscious victims into a large human cluster floating behind her.

"Venus Peanut work hard. Donk work hard too, get candy later."

Donk smiled upon thinking about his favorite part of doing missions, the assorted candies that he always got after finishing his job well.

Donk continued walking forward while mumbling, "Red candy sweet, Donk love. Yellow candy sour, Donk like. Black candy weird, Donk give dog. White candy—"

Donk suddenly stopped upon seeing that a large group of students were in a formation in front of the dorm, all looking at him.

Klaus was standing in front of the dozens of students who had positioned themselves according to their specializations. James, Jian, and Drai stood close to him, while Christo was near the middle of the formation. James and Jian had their weapons brandished whereas Klaus and Drai were barehanded.

The middle part of the formation was where the ranged attackers gathered, including archers, projectile type classes, and offensive mages. The healers and other supporting roles were at the back, ready to aid the others whenever needed.

Meanwhile, the ones who didn’t want to fight were watching from the entrance, prepared to run to their rooms or away from the dorm in case the fight didn’t end well for their side.

And without the fighters below noticing, many students in their rooms were watching this spectacle from their windows. In fact, many of them were quite thrilled since the impending battle below them felt like a scene from a movie.

Donk noticed that the students had taken their fighting stances, many of them wielding various weapons, including staves and wands for the mages who preferred to use them.

"You fight Donk?" Donk loudly asked with a surprised tone.

"Yes! You’re here breaking walls and trees, trampling on our beloved academy! It’s clear that you’re a bad guy!" Klaus shouted back.

"Yo, bad guy," Jian whispered, nudging Drai on his side. This time, Drai didn’t respond to Jian’s joke since he was actually a bit stunned upon getting unintentionally stabbed by Klaus’ words.

Donk seemed stunned too by the statement. His eyes looked up as he pondered over it.

After several seconds of silence, Donk finally lowered his eyes and looked straight at Klaus.

"Break things no bad, Donk like. Donk work hard, catch heretics. Heretics bad. You heretics. You bad, Donk good."

The students stared dazedly at Donk, wondering how such a dumb and naïve sounding guy could end up here as an enemy.

Seeing that the students didn’t reply, Donk haughtily smiled, proud of his logic that successfully silenced the crowd.

"You fight Donk, okay. Donk fight too. No scared, Donk no kill. Donk kill, no candy," Donk said before jogging toward the formation, loudly thumping the ground with every step while his whole body jiggled.

The students woke up from their stupor due to Donk’s clumsy charge. Klaus raised his hand and commanded, "Ranged, ready yourselves! On my mark!"

The ranged fighters complied. Those using projectiles readied their weapons, assuming their firing stances..

On the other hand, the mages filled their hands with mana, ready to convert them into spells.

Two supports with mana regeneration buffs stood close to these mages in case someone needed restoring or fell to severe mana withdrawal.

Klaus kept his eyes on Donk, gauging the optimal range for their salvo. A few seconds later, he finally threw his hand forward.

"Fire!"
