The Devil's Warrior Queen-Chapter 285: Silver Witch In Shining Armor
Chapter 285: Silver Witch In Shining Armor
They all halted in what they were doing as their heads whipped in her direction. Dalen tilted his head up, his eyes were heavily droopy as they fought against the overwhelming edge of unconsciousness. He tried to speak, but only a painful cough followed as blood trickled out.
"Why didn’t you use your magic?" She whispered to him, her teary eyes meeting his.
"Get the girl!" The leader ordered with a grim look on his face, his eyes retained a murderous glare at her and she immediately remembered what she had done to him.
Shifting her feet back, she yelled hysterically as she blurted out "No! He’s lord Dalen from the White Witch kingdom and any moment from now, they will come for us."
Immediately she spoke, their eyes darted from her to lord Dalen as they scrutinized him keenly, wondering if she was right or not. fгeewёbnoѵel_cσm
"Master, he has the features of a white witch." One of the bandits muttered as he surveyed Dalen.
The other bandits suddenly seemed hesitant, apprehension clouded their demeanor as they narrowed their eyes on the bloodied man who was on the verge of death.
The leader’s face twisted into a smirk and in the next moment, a gurgling laughter rolled off his tongue, leaving her as well as the others confused.
"Him? A white witch? This clown couldn’t be, he couldn’t even wield a single magic and now, he’s kneeling to me, all bloody and wounded, I could easily kill him." The leader pointed out and the other bandits were quick to agree as they nodded in unison.
"He is a white witch! He’s only holding back to avoid hurting me." Rama cried out.
"At the cost of his own life?" The leader growled as he pointed his dagger at Dalen’s neck.
"Or yours?" He abruptly switched places as he directed the blade to her neck instead.
She swallowed hesitantly, adrenaline rushing into her blood as she felt the cold tip of the blade pressed against her flesh.
The next event transpired too rapidly for her mind to process as a sword drifted through the air past her and in the next best, she saw the leader pinned to the wall with a sword impaling him right in the chest. Blood gurgled out of his mouth as he struggled to breathe and as the world took its next breath, he died on the spot, leaving the other bandits dumbstruck.
"Stay if you wish to end up like your spineless leader." A familiar, relaxed voice echoed from behind Rama and she hastily turned to face her.
Rama’s pounding heart drastically ebbed down immediately when she caught sight of Aurora. As usual, her face was unbelievably calm after impaling a man to death, her nonchalance was unmatched.
The bandits darted their fearful gazes between their impaled master and the Silver Witch in their midst, and without hesitation they fled from the scene without a second’s thought.
Secured in the midst of Aurora, Rama half ran to Dalen who was struggling to keep awake.
"D-Dalen." She sobbed as she broke down in tears, trying to cradle his figure that was twice as large as hers, but rather he almost crushed her.
Appearing from thin air, two guards emerged as they gently carried Dalen away.
"Rama, lets go." She heard Aurora’s soothing voice as she gently squeezed her shoulders, she looked up at her from her kneeling position, but her blurry eyes made it hard for her to discern her ethereal features.
A cloud of white mist enveloped them, returning them back home, at least the place she called home now, where she was safe and she was being shielded from the hands of vile humans and sins of the world.
Throughout the application of treatment on Dalen’s wounds, she had stayed with him, while also helping out, she blamed herself for it and she felt even more guilty with her helplessness of being unable to help him while he was given brutal treatment.
Aurora had mixed an elixir to help him heal faster, although the back wound would undoubtedly take time since it was severe, but after hours of sitting beside him, the bruises on his face and a small cut on his lip had healed to reveal his unblemished beautiful features once again.
He lay unconscious on the bed with a bandage wrapped around his body as a result of the gory wound he suffered. He was clad in a linen, unbuttoned shirt, revealing his bandaged body with a hint of his pale white flesh.
She sniffed back the tears threatening to erupt from her sensitive eyeballs. Her chest tightened seeing him in that state because of her, he had almost died just to save her as Aurora had commanded and as he had sworn, but the thought of him sacrificing his life for her, shattered her completely, it would have been unbearable to live with the thought of Dalen risking his life for her own.
"He will be alright, a small wound isn’t going to kill Dalen." She heard Aurora speak in her usual calm manner from behind her.
Turning her head, she glanced at her before dropping it back on unconscious Dalen.
"It wasn’t a small wound, he lost a lot of blood." Rama muttered.
"It would have been a worthy sacrifice, regardless of the outcome, as long as you were alive." Aurora remarked.
"He’s your brother, no one’s life should be as important as his, he’s your only family." Rama said as she stood up to face her.
"I do love him Rama, but sometimes, they’re bigger sacrifices that one needs to make to ensure the safety of everyone else, I have people to protect, it’s not just my duty but his as well, and if either of us has to make that sacrifice, we will without hesitation." Aurora intoned.
"You don’t have to die for me, no one should, neither should you or Dalen, you both mean more to me than you could imagine, even though you lie to me, but you still protect me and genuinely care for me, it’s not right that any of you should die, I wouldn’t be able to watch that happen any way, I’d never accept that." Rama stated firmly.
"It’s more than you just living Rama, it’s much more than that and with time, hopefully when you regain your memories, you’ll realize it too and understand why I do what I do." Aurora said calmly, her expression serene as she stared at her.
"It doesn’t matter, whether I regain my memories or not, I still would never let either of you die for me, I’m sorry but I don’t think I can fulfill my promise of staying alive no matter what." Rama blatantly stated out with a straight face.
Aurora’s lips pursed "You may have lost your memories, but you still have your defiant spirit, you’ve never changed, not one bit."
"And I wonder why?" Rama scoffed sarcastically.
"You staying alive is the best thing you could do for everyone, including me and Dalen." Aurora noted as she passed down her last argument.
"Do you know how I felt when I hid and watched Dalen suffer, just to keep me safe? I felt like a coward, I felt helpless and it was utterly heartbreaking. You’re not just witches who saved me, I know you both genuinely care about me and that makes you both as much as a family to me, so I really don’t care if my death causes doom into the world or whatever, I’ll do my best to protect the both of you, as you have protected me. That will be my new promise to you, it won’t be staying alive any longer but protecting the both of you." Rama noted, emphasizing on every single word rolling off her lips with emboldened zeal.
"Rama, sometimes, life doesn’t always go the way we plan, you can’t save everyone, but at least we can save you and you can save everyone." Aurora said as she rested her hand on hers with a gentle pat.
Rama’s brows knitted together in confusion "Maybe you could stop being so puzzling with your riddled words, I’m only trying to help, you said I was a warrior before, maybe that’s why I can’t help but want to protect as much as you protect me. It just doesn’t feel right to let others sacrifice for me."
"I understand how you feel, but think of protecting yourself and living as saving others, because that is truly what it is." Aurora said, her voice soothing to persuasion.
"Why do you need me alive? For some kind of ritual?" Rama asked sarcastically.
Aurora chuckled lightly "I wish it was that simple."
"Every single day is a suspense, isn’t it? I should never be too prepared to wake up to another ordinary day because I never know what is really going to happen." Rama murmured under her breath.
"You can say that, but don’t think too deeply of it, the probability that it will be favourable for everyone is high." Aurora said as she flashed her a subtle smile.
