Chapter 65: Chapter 65 Li Qing’s Counterattack_1

"You two already did it?" Han Mei looked at Li Qing in shock, biting her thin lips tightly.

"Yeah, sister-in-law, we really did, I was afraid it would upset you, so I didn’t dare to tell you," Li Qing said weakly, then roughly explained the events of the previous night to Han Mei.

Han Mei’s face turned slightly red, and she glared at Li Qing with irritation, "Wasn’t this what we agreed on long ago? Why would I be angry?"

"It’s just, now we’ve got trouble with scumbags like Hu Youyu and Tian Laowu."

Li Qing bowed his head in silence.

Today’s events had given him a warning.

Tian Laowu was actually not that hard to deal with, but Hu Youyu was like a scorpion.

He always took advantage of others, and it was rare for anyone to get the better of him.

"Actually, even if someone saw you two together, it wouldn’t be a big problem. The trouble is with Tian Yue’e, that wild mare. She used to dress so flamboyantly that rumors about her selling herself spread, giving her a reputation even worse than that of a widow like me," Han Mei said, her delicate brows slightly furrowed and speaking with a headache.

"That’s what I’m worried about," Li Qing said, "Tian Yue’e is not just stubborn, I’m worried she might do something foolish."

"I’ll go check on her in a bit, you should head home early," Han Mei nodded and said.

Just after Li Qing got home and had a meal, Yang Xuelan rushed in frantically.

"Qingzi, quick, quick, quick, your sister-in-law is fighting with someone!"

Li Qing, who was sitting on the sofa drinking water, leaped up at once, "What did you say?"

Yang Xuelan said with urgency, "Hu Youyu called over a few of his nephews, leading a group of people who have surrounded your sister-in-law and the Tian family girl, saying they want to take them to the police station for questioning, to find out the Tian girl’s background and give the villagers an explanation! Your sister-in-law wouldn’t have it and started fighting with them."

"I’ll kill that old dog!" Li Qing cursed in anger, picking up an axe from the corner of the yard, and dashed out the door.

"Qingzi, wait, wait!" Yang Xuelan hurried after him with quick small steps.

"Qingzi, you need to stay calm, this isn’t something that can be solved by fighting."

"I heard it was because you and the Tian family girl engaged in that kind of physical trade, and that’s why Tian Laowu and Hu Youyu brought people to block the door. Is that true?"

"Bullshit!" Li Qing cursed angrily.

Yang Xuelan sighed wistfully, seeming a bit relieved, then continued, "Your sister-in-law is also a bit impulsive, she couldn’t explain herself and charged at them with a sickle. I couldn’t stop her, so I had to come find you quickly!"

"Is everyone okay?" Li Qing asked anxiously as he walked briskly.

Now that knives were involved, the matter was certainly serious.

Li Qing knew Han Mei’s temperament well.

When she was soft, she was softer than anyone else, but when she got tough, she was ruthless.

"No one was hurt when I left, but I’m not sure what the situation is now," said Yang Xuelan, struggling to keep up with Li Qing’s pace.

Li Qing did not dare delay and rushed towards Tian Yue’e’s home.

Even before he arrived, he could hear a noisy commotion.

At the door, a dense crowd was gathered, flashlights illuminating Tian Yue’e’s front yard as if it were daytime.

"Get out of my way!" Li Qing roared as he swung the axe and charged into the crowd.

Those who had come just for the spectacle, seeing Li Qing’s fervor, quickly moved aside.

Fearing that Li Qing’s furious axe might accidentally strike them.

Li Qing charged to the forefront and finally caught sight of Tian Yue’e and Han Mei.

The two women, who were like sisters, each gripped a sickle, standing defiantly against the crowd.

Opposite them, Hu Youyu and Tian Laowu stood shoulder to shoulder, with a few young men by their side.

They must be Hu Youyu’s nephews.

Li Qing recognized some, others looked unfamiliar.

The Hu family was originally a major household in the village and had never been short of bullying others.

Such a show of force wasn’t the first time either.

"Sister-in-law, Yue’er, are you alright?" Li Qing asked anxiously.

Han Mei shook her head, "I’m fine, it’s just Yue’er who got a cut on her shoulder!"

"Which bastard did this?" Li Qing exploded with rage, his eyes seeming murderous.

Tian Yue’e said, "It’s nothing serious, I did it to myself."

"You did it to yourself?" Li Qing was taken aback.

With a cold glance at Hu Youyu and the others, Tian Yue’e said, "If they don’t scram, I’ll die right here for them to see!"

"Sister-in-law, go and treat her wound first; I’ll handle things here," Li Qing said.

Although Li Qing had no experience in dealing with such situations, he couldn’t show weakness now.

Hefting an ax in his hand, Li Qing faced Hu Youyu and Tian Laowu with a cold expression, "What’s the meaning of this?"

"You whelp barely grown out of your fur, scram to the side," Tian Laowu said sneeringly. "Yue’er has been doing ’that kind of thing’ in the village. Since we know about it, we must not turn a blind eye. We’re going to take her to the police station, let them investigate properly, and give the villagers an explanation."

"Catching a thief requires dirty hands, where’s the evidence?" Li Qing clenched the ax tightly and stepped forward.

"What, what are you going to do?" Seeing Li Qing’s murderous look, Tian Laowu was startled and squeezed into the crowd.

Hu Youyu, standing beside Tian Laowu, didn’t have the courage either.

As Tian Laowu ran off, Hu Youyu also turned and hid, using his nephews as a shield.

"Brother, let’s talk this out nicely, no, don’t use the knife – I mean, don’t swing the ax."

The men said loudly as they stepped back cautiously.

"This can be cleared up with a simple investigation; there’s no need for this. Murder demands a life in return, calm down."

"Calm down your mom’s ass, where’s the evidence?!" Li Qing roared ferociously.

Those men were collectively startled by the outburst.

"Uncle, where’s the evidence?" someone urgently asked Hu Youyu.

Hu Youyu’s face turned pale as he kept retreating.

He didn’t have a shred of evidence.

If he did, he wouldn’t need to rouse people to pressure with a show of strength.

"What now? No evidence?" Li Qing scoffed. "So what exactly are you doing here? Robbery?!"

"Qingzi, it was nothing," one of the Hu nephews said sheepishly. "We might not have gotten the full picture."

Li Qing brandished the ax, pointing at Hu Youyu, "Spreading rumors to tarnish Yue’er and my reputations is one thing, deliberately bullying and withholding her contracting fees I might have reluctantly understood as you being tight on cash, but what is the meaning of this now?"

"Showing up in the middle of the night with a crowd at a young girl’s doorstep, baselessly accusing her of being a prostitute, if you can produce evidence, I have nothing to say."

"But if you can’t, Mr. Hu, do you believe that I would wipe out your entire family?"

Suddenly, Hu Youyu sneered, "You want evidence? The evidence is what Tian Laowu and I saw with our own eyes!"

"Last night, I saw it crystal clear, the two of you were standing right here pulling and dragging at each other, making a scene. Tian Laowu saw it earlier as well, do you think the two of us elders would falsely accuse you?"

"You old dogs!" Li Qing shouted angrily, "Your mother must have spoken with other men too, right? So according to your logic, does that make her a prostitute as well?"
