The King's Unbreakable Wife-Chapter 215: To please the one you love (4)
Chapter 215: To please the one you love (4)
"I still have many of your dresses kept up in your room. I can bring one of the new ones you were excited to wear. Don’t worry about the ruined one. I’ll have it made again though that doesn’t matter now. Can you turn for me, Hazel? We must be quick before anyone comes in with the doctor," said Renee.
Renee didn’t mind that her hands had gotten dirty from the water stained from the blood that she was wiping off of Hazel. There was nothing she wouldn’t do when it came to her husband and children.
Hazel turned to look at her mother. "You don’t have to. I can clean myself."
"I can do it for you. I’m your mother, Hazel. Cleaning you is not a hassle for me. This is a time that you need to be cared for," Renee said, standing up from the bed as she needed to change the water. "I need to have the sheets changed too. I can do it."
"Since when have you ever changed a bed sheet before mother? I am not so weak that I cannot help myself," Hazel replied, trying to sit up and already her mother was by her side helping her. "I am fine."
"Hazel, it is alright to cry. I know you well. I know when you are hiding what you are feeling so you don’t worry us. Doing that makes us worry more because there will come a time when you have to let that all out and I pray that it is not when you are alone. Crying helps us deal with the troubles we face. It’s the start of healing," said Renee.
Hazel smiled, hoping this was enough for everyone around her.
"You’re strong. I always knew that you were. You must get it from your father as I have always been an emotional mess," Renee jokes, her words proven by her need to cry again. "Just know that this loss doesn’t mean the end for you."
"I know but it’s..." Hazel trailed off not knowing how to explain what she felt. There were many things she wanted to do at once but she didn’t know how to properly react to what she faced. Her body just seemed numb as though she had forgotten how to react to such hurt. "I have to tell Tobias."
"Of course! We weren’t planning to hide it from him since he deserves to know. It was the court that we thought shouldn’t know about this. The last thing you need is to hear their opinions. You can stay here as long as you want. For as long as it takes you to heal. We’ll do our best to protect you," Renee promised.
"I wanted to give him a child," Hazel further explained what she meant.
Renee forgot about what she needed to do as she needed to have a serious talk with Hazel. "Tobias will understand. It is heartbreaking but things like this happen though we don’t want them to. If he loves you, he will understand and he will wait. Your safety will come first. Trust me. You will one day have a child."
"There will be a day when you have good news to share. Not just with Tobias but with everyone you love, and when that day comes it will feel so much more important because you were blessed with the child you yearned for. You’ll treasure it more. We won’t forget about this one," Renee said as the loss was not to be forgotten. "We can do something to have it remembered and cherished."
Hazel palmed her face to hide her tears. It hurt even more because she had been excited to announce to Tobias that they were expecting. Not just for the sake of the palace having a future heir but because they were married and like any other couple, they would want a child.
"I want to share good news. To make him happy-"
"Hazel," Renee cut in. "You cannot add more stress to yourself by worrying about how Tobias will react. If he is the man that I think he is, he will be happy that you will be fine. Sad but he will know that it was out of your control."
"Was it truly out of my control? I had been so focused on Lynn’s death and ate later than I was meant to. I wasn’t getting enough sleep as I normally do and I spent a lot of time touring the gardens," Hazel said, listing all the ways she might have put herself in this position.
What if it was her doing because she wasn’t properly taking care of herself? The court would have a right to speak about her mistakes.
"Hazel, we will never know what caused this to happen. The doctor will have his theories and anyone around you who finds out, but we truly will not know what caused this. I was once in your position and I still think that I don’t have the answers. Trying to find them now at this time will do more harm than good. Just get some rest now. Please," Renee pleaded.
Hazel needed to be relaxed at this time. Her body went through something that Renee considered to be traumatic. Thinking of how to avoid this happening again could be discussed after the doctor took a look at Hazel.
"Okay," Hazel agreed to please her mother, but her mind was still stuck on this being her fault. It could be her fault for leaving the palace in secret to see her family. She was being punished for something she did.
"I need to get you another dress and clean sheets. I won’t be gone long and if I see Helena, I will send her in. I also need to offer some of your father’s clothes to Kenneth so he can get cleaned up. Aside from the king, I am glad that you were with Kenneth. I just don’t know how I will be able to repay him," Renee said, thinking of what value she had to give him right now.
Hazel laid back down on the bed. "We both know that he doesn’t want any money from us. I would like to see him before he leaves. I vaguely remember him being scared out of his mind and I wasn’t giving him a response."
"I will tell him. I will be back shortly and while we wait for the doctor it feels like I need to drag here. try to get some sleep. I will speak to Kenneth about sending a secret message to the king. It will be fine," Renee said, leaning forward to kiss Hazel’s forehead.
Hazel smiled once more for her mother’s sake and laid watching her mother take what was used to clean her outside of the room, but once the doors closed, Hazel’s thoughts went back to blaming herself for what happened.
