The Young master's fake bride and her lucky system-Chapter 85: Bidding for his wife
Caishen had not responded when Madam Qian came and stole Alix away.
"Play something good, to accompany the bidding." Madam Qian told her.
Alix decided to play the song of the crabby serpent. If the donors were in a good mood, they would offer more money.
This time round, it was madam Qian who addressed the guests instead of her husband.
"I want to thank you all for coming for our annual Ko-Qian benefit. The mission of this benefit remains the same as always. It's to support the education of as many children from low income households and orphanages as we can.
We have expanded to paying medical bills and providing the most basic needs for such children as well.
Last year, thanks to all of your help, we were able to help four thousand three hundred children. Of this number, two hundred have successfully graduated from the university and some have successfully acquired gainful employment."
She paused and led everyone in an applause.
Alix continued her light playing, ensuring that she did not overwhelm the sound of madam Qian's voice.
Why she was required to play at such a time was confusing to her. Didn't this sort of confuse the guests?
"As always bids will be increased by a fee of ten thousand yuan, you can all start the bidding now with this painting of a field of sunflowers from the artiste Mo Wen."
All the guests knew what business had brought them to the gallery and the bidding started. The first painting was sold for one hundred thousand yuan.
"That would have looked good on the wall of one of your hotels." Du Fuzi told his friend.
"Too bright. What do you think Caishen?"
"Mmmm." Caishen answered.
He was listening to the music and he cared less about the painting.
"He has been captivated, let him be." Rongyan said with a sigh.
Nobody at this table understood Caishen more than him. Besides, he was interested in what Alix was playing as well.
"Does your wife intend to produce an album? We play music in the birthing wards to soothe expectant mothers and this cheerful music could be a great addition."
Caishen could not speak for Alix on her professional life. He shrugged and said, "You will have to discuss that with her. Her starting price for just one song is five million, don't bother her if you cannot afford it."
Si Huang Cheng, counted five figures off his figures and held up a hand, looking at Caishen with shock in his eyes.
"That costs as much as a sports car!!!"
"A house in some cases." Du Fuzi added.
"That's why I said don't bother her if you cannot afford it." Caishen reminded him.
One hour later, the bidding for everything was done and Alix stopped playing.
Madam Qian, with a big smile on her face told the guests, "The bidding ends here and I am glad to report that we have managed to raise nineteen million two hundred thousand five hundred twenty yuan."
A loud applause went around in the room.
"Well, there is a hand being raised by CEO Zhang. Did we leave something out?" Madam Qian looked around and her puzzled eyes inquired from her husband.
All eyes in the room moved to Caishen and they too wondered if something had been missed.
Young master Zhang had not bid on something all night. Was he simply going to make a donation outright?
"Can I bid on the amazing cello player?" With a smile on his face, Caishen asked.

Half of the eyes moved from Caishen to Alix. What was going on? They asked themselves.
Caishen's friends had the same questions. Was his wife part of the things up for bid tonight? Or was it her music? Maybe they had missed something.
"Err, I don't know...she is .., maybe we should ask her." Madam Qian looked at Alix.
Her husband, Mr. Ko saw an opportunity and he grabbed the microphone and said eagerly, "Yes."
"Ten million for the cello player." Caishen said.
Most of the guests gasped and some chuckled because Alix looked somewhat like a deer caught in headlights and also because he said a figure nobody was expecting..
Mr. Ko was quite clever and he made light of the situation. "Wow, it looks like young master Zhang is quite romantic. But we have to ask the cello player if she wants to go home with you."
"Fifteen million." Someone else uttered.
It was surprising enough when Zhang Caishen started the unusual bid but someone else jumping on it was even more mind-blowing.
Who was the crazy person that was bidding on someone else's wife?
The crazy person was elder Sun, whose son was dragging his arm down and begging him to stop being stubborn.
"Twenty million." Caishen countered.
As if the guests were watching a tennis match, their heads turned from elder Sun to Caishen.
Elder Sun's struggling hand tried to sneak up again but Tai Ho Sun and chairman Tai Heng managed to stop him.
"Sold." a female voice said.
It was not madam Qian's voice, it was Alix's voice.
The heads which had turned to Caishen turned to her now. What games were these people playing?
"It looks the celloist has sold herself to the highest bidder so the bidding is closed here." Mr. Ko announced.
A few people laughed at what he said.
Alix returned to the table, taking quick steps and smiling nervously because all eyes were still on her. She was the most expensive person or item to be bid on that night.
"Young master Zhang sure knows how to woo his wife." someone said.
The benefit was officially over and the guests could leave. Caishen and Alix did not stick around.
After saying farewell to his friends and the Tai's, the couple which was already the most talked about from the gala set off for their home.
Alix kept looking at Caishen, not even daring to blink as if she was afraid that he would disappear if she looked away for a single second.
As soon as they were a safe distance away from the gallery, she cupped her hand and lightly his arm, taking care to ensure that she sis not cause him pain.
"Crazy, you are crazy, twenty million for the celloist!!"
"Miss Lin!!" he said loudly as he protected his arm.
"You are crazy, do you know what twenty million is? I know that you are rich but can you just throw around money like that?" she continued yelling.
Nobody else had donated that much.
Caishen grabbed her hands and held them firmly. To Alix's disbelief he even had the guts to smile.
"Don't worry, it's just money." he said in perfect English.
