Chapter 90: Chapter 90: The Tables Turn

The Black Demon Gloves, known for their impenetrability against anything less than a fifth-grade weapon, had been pierced?

Aizen felt a sharp pain radiating through his palm and instinctively retreated several steps. Examining his hand, he breathed a slight sigh of relief.

Fortunately, the silver needle had only pierced about half an inch deep.

Luckily, the needle wasn’t coated with deadly phosphorus poison.

It seemed the Black Demon Gloves’ defense had worked to some extent. Though pierced, the gloves had absorbed most of the Rainstorm Pear Blossom Needles’ penetrating force, leaving his palm intact.

Had it been bare-handed, even mastery of Iron Sand Palm would likely have been insufficient. The needles might have shot straight through his hand and continued into his body.

Aizen was about to pull out the two needles when a scream pierced the air. Several enraged cries followed.

"Raider! You traitor!"

Aizen’s heart sank as the scene before him shifted. Tobias had launched a sneak attack on Alester, driving his sword directly through Alester’s back.

Elsewhere, the battlefield was equally grim. Martin lay lifeless, his eyes ruptured by the silver needles, blood pooling around his corpse.

Wade had also fallen, his throat pierced by a hidden weapon, blood streaming freely.

Soul-Losing Spear Gene appeared to have taken the brunt of the Rainstorm Pear Blossom Needles. His vaunted spear technique proved ineffective against the rapid, diminutive needles. Half-kneeling on the ground, blood streamed from his wounds, leaving him utterly incapacitated.

Simon was barely clinging on, though gravely injured. Her renowned Rending Claw technique was powerful, but her gloves were not as durable as Aizen’s Black Demon Gloves. Attempting to deflect the hidden weapons had left her hands pierced, with needles embedded in her shoulders and chest.

Only Gideon fared slightly better. Standing farther from Crane Ryven alongside Aizen, he had sufficient time to react to the incoming needles. His swift swordsmanship intercepted several, though one needle still pierced his left shoulder. Fortunately, it wasn’t a severe wound.

The situation, however, was grim.

Tobias’s betrayal was an unexpected blow. His sword had effortlessly skewered the unprepared Alester’s heart.

Alester, second only to Martin in strength among those present, was already injured from the Rainstorm Pear Blossom Needles. Caught off guard, he fell victim to Tobias’s treachery.

Now, only Aizen and Gideon remained battle-ready. The others were either dead or gravely injured, unable to contribute.

Aizen’s expression darkened. Everyone still alive shared the same grim look.

In stark contrast,Tobias and Ryven exchanged mocking smiles.

"Surprised, aren’t you? Did you really think I, Ryven, would be foolish enough to escape alone without leaving a trap? Bringing along a waste like Wade?"

Ryven chuckled coldly, the chilling gleam of his Frostiron Sword adding to his menacing aura.

Tobias wore his usual calm smile, unchanged even now. No one could have anticipated his betrayal, not even Viggo, who had deeply trusted him.

"So, this was your plan all along? Preparing such potent hidden weapons just to lure us here and kill us all in one fell swoop?" Simon’s voice was icy, her beautiful eyes sharp as she retreated slowly. Her movements bought her precious seconds to force the needles out of her body and regain some strength.

The Rainstorm Pear Blossom Needles weren’t easy to endure. Each was crafted from a special material that, upon entering the body and drawing blood, softened, making them incredibly difficult to remove. Left unchecked, they would merge with the bloodstream, causing devastating internal damage over time.

Ryven laughed heartily, his gaze lingering on Simon with a glint of wicked intent.

"You’re not entirely wrong. But I don’t intend to kill you all. As despicable as you demonic scoundrels are, the heavens are merciful. For instance, if you can serve me well, perhaps I’ll spare your life."

Simon’s face darkened, frost spreading across her countenance as she retreated to Gideon’s side.

Gideon’s expression grew colder. Clutching his sword, he stepped aside, distancing himself from her.

At this moment, no one wanted to protect a liability. Even someone as obsessed with swords as Gideon wasn’t foolish enough to let sentiment guide him—it wasn’t as if he were smitten by Simon.

"Enough talking. Kill them." 𝚏𝐫𝚎𝗲𝕨𝐞𝐛𝕟𝚘𝐯𝚎𝗹.𝕔𝐨𝗺

Tobias’s smile faded as his gaze swept across the surviving fighters. When his eyes lingered briefly on Aizen, a faint glint flashed in them. Without hesitation, he sprang forward like an arrow and thrust his sword toward the incapacitated Soul-Losing Spear Gene.

Tobias understood Aizen’s capabilities well. Though Aizen had the lowest cultivation level of those present and was already injured, Tobias had no intention of taking him on just yet. That tough bone was left for Ryven to chew on.

Soul-Losing Spear Gene, entirely powerless to fight, could neither dodge the attack nor endure for long. As Tobias’s blade descended, Gene let out a despairing laugh, his bloodshot eyes brimming with fury.

Meanwhile, Ryven was already charging at Gideon with his sword. Though injured and heavily drained of energy, Ryven’s strength remained formidable.

Gideon’s face turned grim as he swiftly retreated, moving closer to Aizen. He had no desire to act as someone else’s stepping stone, nor would he stay behind to stall Ryven, giving Aizen an opportunity to escape.

But Aizen had no intention of running. His footwork wasn’t nearly sophisticated enough to gain any meaningful distance, and even if he escaped, he would face severe penalties for failing the mission.

Now that Ryven’s strength had significantly diminished, this was the perfect opportunity to join forces with Gideon and take him down.

Without hesitation, Aizen yanked the needles from his palm. The sudden, sharp pain stabbed through his nerves but quickly faded.

The silver needles were too small to cause significant harm unless they struck vital points or joints. Though excruciating, the injuries weren’t critical.

As soon as he removed the needles, Aizen channeled his inner power into the Black Demon Gloves. The punctures on the gloves swiftly mended themselves.

Ryven surged forward, his sword shimmering with deadly intent.

Nearby, the gravely wounded Heartbreaking Thorn Abraham and Simon attempted to slip away. However, Tobias, having just finished off Soul-Losing Spear Gene, intercepted them.

The situation grew increasingly dire.

The sudden activation of the Rainstorm Pear Blossom Needles and Tobias’s betrayal had completely turned the tide of what should have been a guaranteed victory.

Ryven, though operating at less than 70% of his full strength, still matched Aizen and Gideon blow for blow.

A pained scream suddenly erupted—it was Abraham, his voice laced with bitter regret as Tobias delivered a fatal blow.

Both Aizen and Gideon felt their hearts tighten. Pressuring their attacks, they aimed to eliminate Ryven before Tobias could join the fray.

But Ryven was no easy opponent. Sensing the intensifying assault, he launched a ferocious counterattack.

Once again, his dazzling yet chilling sword light filled the air, engulfing Aizen and Gideon in a white blur of lethal intent.

Gideon parried the attack, but a lightning-fast strike from within the sword light pierced his right shoulder.

His sword slipped from his grasp as he let out a pained groan, retreating instinctively.

A swordsman without a sword was as good as defenseless. Already injured in his left shoulder, this fresh wound left Gideon utterly incapable of fighting. Escape was his only option if he wanted to survive.

Aizen’s eyes glinted with a sharp determination. He had been waiting for this very moment.

From within his sleeve, a deadly Locking Death Needle slipped into his grasp.

"I’ll take your life!"
