Chapter 329: 329 Budding love

[El’s POV: ]

"So... you’re saying that all the people here were infected with some kind of virus and had to be isolated? Is that right?"

Rex was being unexpectedly chatty. This was perhaps the tenth question he had asked her in the last few minutes she was checking him up.

"Yes, but your condition wasn’t as bad as the ones that actually caught the virus.

You two should go see Oak. Poor little girl perhaps saved many other lives today."

Cathy was here beside him, looking all concerned and sad, holding his hand unknowingly with teary eyes.

"But... but, isn’t this thing contagious or something?"

"Nope. It just spreads quickly. No problems after it’s cured. In fact, you aren’t going to catch this nasty thing anymore anywhere you are."

It was like small pox or some certain diseases that one contracts only once or so throughout their lives and then their immune systems get adapted to fight against them.

It was one strange nasty thing, if I say so myself m.

"Why did he... why did he have it but not me?"

"When did I say he had it? He’s here because he was tested positive for having the virus.

Since he has a unique constitution that uses the total energy in the atmosphere and not just the Mana, he is naturally resistant to it."

I also wanted a good amount of his blood to do some experiments and see if I can make a cure for this shit with Anna and Cary’s help.

’I’ve tried it many times in the past but it wasn’t possible until now.’

But perhaps with Cary and Anna, it might just be possible.

"Then... are you saying I was fine all along?"

He suddenly had a confused expression.

"I didn’t say that either."

I was doing all kinds of tests on him since earlier and taking samples of different areas of his body while Cathy was just standing there, all worried and nervous.

’She was worried that there was something wrong with him and since she had already seen how people affected by this thing were being treated by the others at the moment, she knew whatever this was, was nothing simple.’

She was even worried she might even lose him... just the kind of response I wanted from my lovely friend.

"You might have become a growth hub for this virus so it was important to isolate you first.

And since Cathy could have been of some use here, I brought her along even though it’s not safe here.

Be grateful and talk about the things you have wanted to do since earlier already.

I’m not the only one that can tell how good your friendship is."

With a little smirk and a little more of his blood, I left the two good friends alone.

I was done with all that I had to do with the two, so it was time to move on to the serious matters.

[ "How’s it going?" ]

[ "We found him, but even he had no idea how he got the virus on him so I think it was environmental.

I think we should go check Vanraya after we are done with the Exams." ]

[ "It would be too late if it’s actually spreading in the outside world as well, Lucy.

That bastard came here from Van. There’s no way he didn’t spread it outside.

Who knows how bad the situation might be in the outside world." ]

[ "Well, I think the headmaster is already working on it." ]

[ "That greedy bastard must be." ]

This epidemic was going to be a global problem and if we had failed to discover it in time, it would have been a disaster.

The entire world would have been in danger, there could have also been greater problems and the headmaster couldn’t have that.

’The virus strain ended up inside the academy and we were able to recognize the gravity of the situation before anything died.’

It was pure luck that it happened, and more serious things could have happened had we failed to catch this disease in time.

’The were fortunate on our end and thanks to that, the headmaster had a free bargaining chip to increase his own influence in this world.’

He was a bastard and if his compensation doesn’t satisfy me, I’m gonna file a complaint against him for unfair treatment.

[ "Should we worry about this problem anymore then?" ]

[ "We have a bigger problem to deal with." ] 𝘧𝘳𝘦ℯ𝓌𝘦𝒷𝘯𝑜𝑣𝘦𝓁.𝒸𝘰𝓂

Doing what we did and saving the school gave us new achievements and at the end of this plague, we should also receive a good reward for the world contribution from the cute voice of this world.

[ "The midterms..." ]

[ "He said we would have a different test than the others... does that mean we are going to be away from them when they attack?" ]

[ "Who knows? It’s the headmaster we are talking about. If he is going to look after our test by himself, we should practically prepare to lose this life." ]

He was strict when he needed to be and he was crazy when it was about his own fun.

’We know the kind of stuff he has done to new academy students in their early days, so we know very well just how difficult dealing with him is going to be.’

We were familiar with his tests so even if we put aside the possibility of death, it wasn’t going to be easy.

"Haaa..."

That bastard was going to kill us with this shitass workload even before we could achieve divinity.

"I’m tired."

We had made quarantine zones around the school ground floor and affected individuals were being treated by a few of us with those who managed to master Anna’s unique spell at the lead.

It was a complete hospital atmosphere and certainly something nostalgic that I would have loved to taste slowly... but, alas, we had patients to look after.

"Miss Auriel? Miss Auriel! You’re here as well."

"Yes yes, dear. Now, can you please step back? I have to check her."

Lily and Leon were here as well since Lily was suddenly showing signs of the disease. But it doesn’t look like she had caught this virus.

"Is she alright? Will she need that horribly painful treatment? Will she be alright? Is this thing dangerous? Is there anything I can-."

"You know what you can do, Leon. Shut up and stand in that corner if you want to take her out with you today.

If you don’t, just forget seeing her for the next couple of days."

"What? But why-...!"

"Just do as she said, Leo. And I’m fine anyway. I don’t think I have that virus or anything."

"She’s right and you two should get engaged already. It will be much better to just live together under the same roof instead of Playing around hidden places around the academy."

We know what kind of daily routine these two rabbits have since we have the access to hidden surveillance devices all around this academy as the holders of special clearance.

We can see the things that have happened and things that are happening in real time in places that not many people visit.

’There’s a reason there are ’secret’ places in this academy that only a few individuals know about. And this reason is a little more complicated than what one can expect.’

But we weren’t talking about our perverse habits, so skipping that...

"Yup, you’re good. No virus or any foreign substance in your system.

Though, the symptoms you have right now indicate some kind of infection or allergic reaction.

I’d advise you to stay away from unfamiliar places and visit me sometime later for another set of tests to see what kind of thing you are allergic to.

In the meantime, take these medicines twice a day, preferably after eating and take care of yourself.

And don’t be too intimate for the time being. Kissing and cuddling is fine but not anything more than that until we do the tests.

Understand?"

She knew that I knew about them and their little plays so she didn’t say anything further while her dear partner and the perfect noble of this academy had a beet red expression that couldn’t be explained with simple words like embarrassment or shyness.

He could tell I knew about them and what kind of things they do, but then again, all of us here were adults.

He was twenty, she was a year older than him.

’She was a legal loli in true meaning, while he was a bachelor that all of the country wanted.’

He had loving parents and a good future ahead of him while she was all alone in this world, an orphan that had never even seen her parents.

’They were a perfect match for a reason.’

And seeing how they had progressed so well in this little time, it shouldn’t be long before the love of Cathy and Rex blooms into something cuter.

And we’re waiting for that blooming.

"Alright then, go make love, rabbits."

She will be fine and the rest of them will be well as well.

The school was safe for now, and now that we had a little time to breathe, we could plan what was to come next.

[ "So, is the dinner ready?" ]

The midterms aren’t going to be something easy, hell after the headmaster blasted that bomb, I’m pretty sure we are going to get grounded like wheat with whatever hellish trial he had prepared for us.

’It isn’t going to be as easy as we had originally thought.’

And if it’s the headmaster directly preparing our tests, I’m pretty sure something good is going to come out of this shit.

He was the Headmaster after all.

He had no choice but to be fair with everything he does.

Rewarding individuals for their performance included.
