[Lucy’s POV: ]

The demonic humans that we have faced until now were not that strong. The pig bastard that we had killed when we were kids was also just a little minion of some small and unknown demon that only used it as a plaything.

There are many stronger opponents present on this island right now and many of them are so strong that it would need both of us to face them together, which is exactly what we are going to do.

’They have no intention of fighting the children on their own just to kill them, they knew they could do it any moment they wanted it and they must also be worried of the two of us already if they had information on the students of the academy that were currently taking this test.

There were a number of individuals that could deal with them on this island that that they had not expected as well so since the others from our class and some unexpected student groups were already fighting them, they were now moving more covertly.

’They had a goal right now and they wanted to get their work done before they start dealing with the Sacrifices.’

What they were doing on this island and who might be behind them was already known to us and though we could deal with them on our own with the current power we have, we weren’t sure what would happen if some kind of demon actually appeared in this place.

"So... this is the trial hun?"

[ "Not very fun. Don’t smile like this is something you had already expected." ]

"He prepared a trial for the two of us, of course I expected something like this. This is pretty classic alright?"

[ "Hump. I don’t like this. I want to come over there." ]

The entire island was controlled by a special system that looked after all the tests that each and every student was going to get.

There were thousands of students that were placed in random locations so the tests that they were going to get according to the syllabus they have and the tasks that this exam was supposed to test them for varied greatly.

There were various things that they had opted for and each individual was different so the system knew common assignments weren’t going to be very effect against testing each individual for the skill levels and to test their full potential.

"Anyway, what are these things?"

Currently, there were thousands of students present on this and every single one of them were connected with the academy system, which though was a little different from the Worldline system, there were various things that were the same between two system interfaces. 𝗳𝚛𝗲𝕖𝕨𝕖𝗯𝚗𝚘𝕧𝕖𝗹.𝗰𝗼𝕞

’The system gave the individuals connected to it a unique authoritative power that directly made them different from most of the common humans present in this world.’

In addition to that, most, if not all the students that were giving this exams right now were elites of elites that had survived a labyrinth.

They were students that were special in their own way and had unique potential than the normal humans that were... normal?

[ "This seems to be a kind of puzzle... wait, no. These are tests itself, lol." ]

The demonic humans present on this island were after the students, and since the system wasn’t picking them up because of the artifacts they had, the teachers might not even have noticed them until the summoning circle was complete if it weren’t for Lux’s personal quests.

’She spotted the demonic humans around her area and sniped them, then a gap in their network was created and everything started falling apart for them.’

But she killed a few weaker ones, and though it was only by coincidence, a few other of our friends also took down a few of them.

’Not all of them were fighting these bastards and thankfully, none of them were fighting the stronger ones.’

El and I had alredy dealt with a few stronger ones but that wasn’t going to be enough since there were still hundreds of them present on the island and, to deal with them, we had to be together, however... for that, we will first have to finish these damned exams.

"Tell me what you see."

[ "Hehe, so..." ]

Every student currently on the island was going to give the designated exam tests that they had to and it was inevitable.

Wherever on the island they might be, the tests that they were going to receive were going to be the same, just that they would be a little different in colors depending on their positions.

[ "We will have to pick a card, something will happen, we will have to solve that or defeat it, or pass it individually.

I cannot tell the specifics with my eyes directly, but there are going to be trails in a special space, so I think this will be pretty easy." ]

The headmaster created the tests that we were supposed to give and not the teachers or the system that had our data so, we had already expected it to be something difficult.

At least, we were looking forward to some higher realm stuff that no student of a small world like this world ever faced in their school times.

’But, she was saying it was just some small trails?’

The island was open to everyone but right now, as soon as we reached the meeting point where we were supposed to, a strange barrier separating the two of us had appeared between us.

’I knew she was there but I couldn’t sense her presence, just like how she could not sense my presence.’

She was here, I can tell that much with our link instinctively, but there was nothing more than I can tell with the barrier in place.

’It was a strong one.’

This giant tree that we knew very well was present on both our ends and was the centre of this barrier separating the two of us and from how there were three strange colourful cards present on both of our sides, it seemed like this was the test that we were supposed to give.

[ "There are three. Which one do you wanna go for first?" ]

[ "What about the demons? What will happen to the rest of them?" ]

[ "That will be up to the headmaster, you know? The teachers should have started contacting him already." ]

He was the one that was supposed to look after the exams but the Blue death case that happened not long ago had made his workload worse.

He was away for a while and though he still had his eyes on this place, as he always does, it wasn’t necessarily the case that he would come here and save the rest of the students from these bastards.

’Knowing him, if he had not made any move as of yet, it’s very unlikely that he will make any moves at all.’

The Enemy was not something that the students currently present on the island couldn’t deal with on their own.

Yes it was a strange turn of events that not even he had expected, but he would take it as something positive.

’The island was his territory so it was obvious that nothing too dangerous will happen... but, he is crazy.’

He will leave these bastards to the two of us just to see what we are capable of and move only if they manage to summon some actual demon in this place... not that it was possible.

’It was his space, he alone was the ruler of it.’

If he wanted to allow something to happen, only then that event or thing would take place and without it, these bastards might not even have set foot into this sacred land.

[ "Let’s go with the Red one. It must be something related to you, so you should be able to finish it faster." ]

[ "Nah-ha. Your Aura is red as well, so it might be related to you as well. Who knows?" ]

[ "Possible. Welp, what does it matter, anyway? Let’s do a coin flip." ]

[ "Nah... let’s go with the red one. I like this shade." ]

There were three cards here, one Red, the other Blue, and third one was white.

The three were pretty unique on their own and they were pretty shiny as well so it was easy to notice them.

And, well there was a possibility that we might end up in some separate trials, we were pretty certain about the outcome of this test.

[ "Alright then, let’s go with the red one." ]

The students right now were engaged with their own tests as after the ones that were fighting the rest of them were done, they would start their tests as well.

Lux would prioritise the demonic humans over the exam itself but, she knew she had to have a good enough score to stay in the class so she couldn’t avoid this completely either.

’They were going to get busier soon.’

The tests would be easy for them since they were selected by the system and the teacher of the subject they were learning, but, at the very least I wanted them to be aware of their current situation.

’We left Cary and Anna out to take care of some things in our absence in this place, so they will take care of unexpected things.’

And Anna was interested in this island as well so she’s doing her own research.

She’s as cute as ever, even in this situation.

[ "Alright then, let’s go~." ]

There wasn’t much to do here since they had gone into hiding and the two of us were stuck in this situation.

Cleaning the tests were priority, so... we went on with them and tapped on the red cards together.
