Chapter 43: SMITTEN BY HER BEAUTY

Hazel couldn’t wrap her head around the way these men were thinking, and she didn’t bother to try.

"It’s the easiest way to get him off my back," Ranon said nonchalantly when Hazel asked; after that, they talked about another topic entirely.

"So, what is this date for?" Hazel asked. She looked at her reflection in the mirror and fixed her hair. She was in a rush, so she didn’t pay attention to her hair, only her makeup.

"Father wants to see you."

"Did he miss me already?" Hazel blinked her eyes innocently at Ranon, and the driver coughed lightly to hide his laughter.

"Kind of," he replied nonchalantly, which made Hazel grimace. She was not thrilled to know that Denzel Leighton missed her, though she was sure that was only Ranon’s off-handed reply. "We are going to get the test done tonight."

The DNA test.

This test had been the scourge in the Leighton family lately, once they learned about her pregnancy. All of Denzel’s children were worried about a potential fraud and were adamant to make sure the baby was indeed Leighton’s.

It didn’t take long to reach the Leighton family house. This was the second time Hazel was here, but she was still in awe of the building inside their family’s property. It was said that in the past, the Leighton family was a part of the family of an aristocrat.

No wonder they had that smug aura.

"Hey, I think you forgot to mention the crucial part," Hazel said in a low voice when they stepped in the living room.

"What is it?"

"You didn’t tell me that all of your family is here."

"Not all. The youngest daughter and son are not here," Ranon replied.

Probably he didn’t even notice it, but the way he addressed his siblings showed that they were not close, as instead of calling them by their names, he used the longest term to mention them.

"Still, there are more audience than the last time." Hazel expected Denzel and Ema, like the last time, but as it turned out, there were additional four family members here.

"Ignore them."

"That’s the best advice you can give me?" The last time, Ranon gave her the same advice. He was not really creative in this aspect, was he?

Ranon didn’t respond to her because at this point, they had walked further into the room, and their whispery conversation would be within their earshot.

The Leighton family members were blessed with good looks. They must have inherited it from their father with their sharp jaws and pointed noses. It made them look very assertive and dominant.

Even in his wheelchair, Daniel looked very attractive. His gorgeous features could still attract women in, despite his condition.

Somehow, Hazel was pleased; at the very least, she did her baby justice in terms of physical appearance. More so, Hazel was not so bad either.

You need to thank me, baby; I found the right father for you. She thought to herself.

Hazel greeted Denzel Leighton, and he replied with only a curt nod, which she didn’t mind at all because at the very least, he acknowledged her. ƒreewebηoveℓ.com

Meanwhile, Ema was standing uncomfortably behind her husband. This was the second time Hazel was here, but she had not yet met with her son.

"Let’s not wait for long; let’s get the test done."

A woman who was standing next to Denzel Leighton spoke in a very impatient tone; she looked at Hazel up and down, seemingly trying to judge whether she liked her or not.

Hazel had done her homework; she knew this woman.

Laurel Leighton.

She was the second eldest daughter, the third child of Denzel Leighton, but also the youngest daughter that he had with his first wife. From the information that Hazel had gathered, Denzel cheated on her and married his second wife, who gave birth to his fourth child.

However, his second wife died during childbirth, and he had a one-night stand with Ranon’s mother, who later gave birth to Ranon.

And Ema was his third wife, who was also the ex of his own son.

Nice.

Really nice.

Their family history was really messed up and filled with dramas, and Hazel lived for it, since her own family was not so different.

This was the environment that she was familiar with.

"I invited her here to have dinner with all of us; we will have the dinner first before we discuss the main problem." Denzel looked at all of his children, who seemingly wanted to be anywhere else but here.

It was convincing to say that they had an argumentation before Hazel and Ranon arrived, and Hazel wouldn’t be surprised if she learned that they were being dragged out of whatever holes they were in to have this dinner together.

"Am I the main problem?" Hazel asked Ranon when they walked towards the dining hall. The two of them walked behind them all, out of their earshot. "Ouch! What is that for?" Hazel grumbled when Ranon pinched her waist. "I thought we were having a date. Is this a triple date?"

"I will date you after this."

"It will be too late. I have a curfew, remember?"

"I have made a call to your father."

Hazel rolled her eyes dramatically. "Of course." She was exasperated because she needed to go to the hotel where Arlo stayed; she still had time if she hurried after they finished their business here, but apparently, she had to readjust her plan.

"So, how did the two of you meet?" Laurel asked; she lifted her chin haughtily. Based on what Hazel knew, she married a well-off tycoon in another city and had been living there ever since. She would only come a few times in a year.

From the look of it, she wanted to stay as far away as possible from the Leighton family.

Hazel glanced at Ranon and blurted out. "He was smitten by my beauty and asked for my number."

Daniel tried to hold back his laughter, while the other looked pissed.
