Ten minutes later:

"Well that seems unfair? I don’t need all that space." I admitted as Lena and I were walking back out of the ship.

Having just seen my quarters I was shocked. It was even bigger than the room Kathrine gave me on the Thanatos. It was just unneeded.

"Well you are an Archon and this is a military ship. No college rules apply here. You get the special treatment. I say live in the lavish for a couple days as once we get to the fightin’ I doubt such luxuries will continue."

I shrugged my shoulders, Lena made a good point. "I do sense a great deal of floor sleeping in my future."

Gabrielle, Hailey and Nerissa were where we left them so I walked over. "Is everything ok over here?" I asked as I approached. I was then immediately alarmed as all three turned towards me and spoke at the same time.

"Everything is fine."

Lena, leant over and whispered in my ear. "Yeah, that’s not normal. That gave me the heebie-jeebies. I’m going to go look around. Good luck dude." She then proceeded to fake being called somewhere and ran away.

"Are you sure? You guys look... Tense?" I had to ask and the moment I did the tension vanished.

Nerissa then stepped to my side away from the others and placed her hand on my shoulder. "Everything really is fine. We were just discussing your safety. We all care about you after all. There was just some debate on how to go about it. But don’t worry your head over it Apollo. Really. Especially in the prelude of battle."

I was touched hearing that. "Well, I appreciate you all wanting to keep me safe, but I am also capable of keeping myself safe. How about we all just do our best to keep each other safe?"

My query got a round of nods, including my own, so I changed the subject. "So, what should we do with the remainder of our time togeth-"

Or I was about to before Skaja shouted.

"-Alright everyone! Double time! The longer we stay, the more our troops die on Lleon T1! Those not assigned tasks, head inside the ship and prepare for launch! We leave Ten minutes from now! Let’s move! Move! Move!"

Hearing that I turn to Hailey and give her one final kiss before running over to the ship with Nerissa and Gabrielle.

Hailey watched her man leave, but she was not sad. She knew the importance of duty better than anyone and she knew Apollo. He would come back. He would fight hard. He would show the Drakoshi his power and they would learn to fear him.

She knew this deep within her heart because she had something more powerful than wishful thinking.

She had faith.

Faith in the man she knew was the catalyst for something new in this empire. And she knew that she would be a part of it.

"Apollo, I am going to my room to settle in. I don’t like the feeling of entering FTL. I will catch you in a bit, ok?" Gabrielle said as I arrived back in front of my room."

I nodded at her. "Sure thing. See you soon." I said before entering my room, Nerissa following behind.

"Where is your room Nerissa?" I asked.

"Here. With you." She declared before tilting her head to the side. "Why? Will that be a problem?"

I shook my head. "No, not at all, but there is only one bed."

"No problem, I will sleep in my armour." She tried to declare, but I wasn’t having it.

"If you sleep in your armour, then I’ll sleep in my armour and then there is just a useless bed in here. We can share. I’ll even let you be the big spoon." I added on playfully at the end.

"Very well. I am going to take a walk around the ship and gather my bearings. Would you like to come?" She asked, but I shook my head.

"Maybe later? For now I am going to have a lay down and relax until I am needed."

Nerissa said nothing else after that, she simply nodded her head and left the room. I then waited for a moment before smiling. I actually did have something planned.

Getting on the bed I closed my eyes and entered my Mindspace. Once in there, I began tugging on a specific bond to someone and moments later. She appeared.

"Apollo? Is everything alright?" Kathrine asked, looking around, a little frantic. Feeling her emotional state, I flipped the question.

"Should I be asking you? What’s happening? You look worried." I then rushed over and gave Kathrine a big hug that she melted into.

"Oh, I am much better now, my love. These months apart have been agony, but I must do my duty to the empire while we are still fronting our loyalty. She then nestled for a few moments letting out a soft drawn out moan of comfort before pulling away.

"Apollo, did you have Keyla kill Axel Belnevis?" She suddenly asked and I looked away embarrassed. "Um... Kind of. I was so pissed when you were the target of an assassination, I just couldn’t hold myself back. I’m sorry if that was wrong of m-MMMHH! Mhhm!"

Kathrine kissed me once more, her tongue fiercely showing her emotional state as it fought against my own. She pulled away once more and proclaimed. "Fuck, baby. That is so hot. You literally got a mass murderer to kill for me? That is so romantic. I love you so much!"

I was a little stunned by that reaction, but not in a bad way. I then wrapped my hand around Kathrine’s waist and asked. "So why did you bring that up? Is something going on?"

Kathrine nodded her head at me. "Oh yes. Well, after the investigations they found out Axel hired an assassin to kill me. And noble drama being what it is, they naturally have to come and investigate my side of the story. There are two detectives on their way to see me now. Apparently they have been hunting me down for a while as I’ve been on my trips so I cannot blow them off."

My eyebrows raised at her sudden declaration and I felt a little worried. "Shit, I probably shouldn’t have told you then huh? at least before you had plausible deniability. But now-" 𝑓𝑟ℯ𝘦𝓌𝘦𝘣𝑛𝑜𝓋𝑒𝓁.𝑐ℴ𝓂

"-But now nothing, my love. I’ve been investigated for murders before. It’s a formality really. Just a part of noble life. They won’t get anything. I promise you. The sanguine butcher is a high profile case because Keyla is insane so they have to do so. But trust me, they have nothing.

Now, what is going on on your end? Is my Mother bullying you into going to the gym with her everyday? She doesn’t even take period cramps as excuse to hold off, so be prepared to go, though that being said, you two are basically the same fucking person when it comes to training so I doubt that is it. Sorry I am rambling, It’s just so nice to see and feel you. I feel so at peace."

I stroked Kathrine’s hair lovingly. "Don’t apologise for being yourself. It is all of you I love after all. And no, Valerica isn’t bullying me. She hasn’t since we punished her. But I am not going to see her for a while actually. I’ve been picked for an emergency expedition. I am on the ship now and I am about to go to war."

"W-What?" Kathrine stammered, baffled by what I just said. "When? How? Where are you being deployed?"

"Two days ago, I got the alert. I am an elite, so I got picked and I am being sent to Lleon T1."

As soon as I said that, Kathrine let out a big breath of relief. "Oh thank the stars! I just received word that Aunty Serena has just been deployed there. With her there and leading the forces, the war is all but guaranteed to be a victory. Who do you have with you as backup?"

"Nerissa, Onyx and Lena is my plus one. Gabrielle is also coming aswell as my friends Tamara and Francesca"

"Good. Knowing a praetorian is with you eases my worry." Kathrine then looked in the distance and saw Onyx in her stalker form waving at her. "Knowing she is with you as well eases my worry. I also know Gabrielle quite well. She is a strong warrior and Lena and your friends? If you chose her I am sure she is talented. And if your friends were chosen, it must be the same. But why didn’t you take Orchid with you?"

" Oh, I wanted her to stay with Janine. That way she has a way to get to classes and stuff. I would have loved to have them both with me to be honest, but I only had one extra spot."

Kathrine nodded in understanding and was about to continue before looking away and grumbling under her breath. She then hastily composed herself and explained.

"Apollo, I have to go. Talia is shaking me like crazy trying to wake me up. Dumb Sepiida. Keep me posted and make sure to acquire my company on those quiet nights when you are alone. I am eager to reward my brave soldier for his service~ "
